Imagine a festival where everyone brings something to share, and in return, you are rewarded tenfold by sharing with others. A festival where it’s not about what you can get, but what you can give with a whole heart. This is what RestFest is all about – radical reciprocity and living kindness.

Started in 2017 as a playful experiment by Paula and Iain Kingwill, who are the custodians of The Rest farm, RestFest has become an intimate, joyful, and spontaneous experience that is nourishing and restorative for all. It’s a festival where friends of friends bring wonderful offerings and plenty of color.

Previous offerings have included musical performances by Jamie Jupiter and Mark Maingard, death cafe, life drawing, yoga, invisible tennis, ciabatta bread making, 5 rhythms dance, magic shows, DJs, drama therapy, family constellations, slacklining, storytelling by Paul Slabolesky, movies, guided bike rides, mandala making, permaculture garden design, low-stress stock management, car maintenance, stand-up comedy, and much more.

At RestFest, festival-goers also join a crew for the cooking, recycling, cleaning, toilets, fire keeping, technical support, and others. Some prefer their offerings to be backstage, while others are more comfortable in the limelight. It’s a festival where everyone is welcome to share and be a part of the experience.

After a 3-year break due to Covid, RestFest is back with some lovely offerings coming through already. Festival-goers can offer anything from a song, a poem, a story, or even cook a meal. It’s a festival where passions are shared, and creativity is encouraged. Do you know something we don’t? Pass it on. Share it. Refill.

Because of the intimate, co-creating nature of the festival, RestFest does not accept day-trippers. It’s all in or wait to hear the stories afterwards! While cottages and caravans on the farm are already booked, festival-goers can bring their own tent or caravan.

Space is quite limited due to the size of resources, so if you’re interested, be sure to contact Paula Kingwill via Reconnect on The Rest Facebook page or visit the website at www.karoorest.com to book soon.

In conclusion, RestFest is a festival like no other, where giving and receiving with a whole heart is the norm. It’s a festival that nourishes the soul and celebrates the richness of the human experience. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to be a part of something truly special!
