The Nieu-Bethesda Camino is a 100km circular route that offers unique and varied views of the Karoo landscape. Predominantly walking along the provincial gravel road, you are afforded the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty, wildlife, birds and absolute silence as you pass and cross private farms and protected nature reserves with little or no traffic.

Starting from our base camp Kareelaagte Guest Farm, this 5-day walk covers approximately 23km per day which you can cover at your own pace. To enhance the experience of silence and solitude, we accommodate groups of eight.

You can look forward to enjoying quaint and rustic accommodation as we overnight on guest farms along the way.

It is the perfect time to unplug from city life as there is little or no cell phone reception.

We craft unique retreats and workshops in the heart of the Karoo to facilitate self-awareness, personal growth and holistic healing. We believe that the beautiful and tranquil environment of the Karoo is the ultimate earth medicine that aids relaxation, exploration, healing and creativity.

Being based in the village of Nieu-Bethesda in the Eastern Cape, we saw the opportunity to develop a flag-ship activity to boost tourism to the village and benefit the community by supporting local service providers.
