In May 2014, the very first Stoep Tasting Wine Weekend was held in Graaff-Reinet – 5 wine producers graced 5 lovely stoeps in the town. 45 tickets were sold and it was the beginning of something wonderful. 

Now more than ten years later the annual Stoep Tasting Wine Weekends is one of the premier wine tourism events in Africa and showcases some of the top independent wine and spirit producers from South Africa and abroad.  The festivities now takes place over 2 Weekends – The Orginal and The Sibling, both of which incorporates the towns of Graaff-Reinet and Nieu-Bethesda.

Wineries, wine tasters and buyers travel from across Southern Africa meeting up in the Karoo to stroll the streets of these two picturesque towns, from stoep to stoep, to experience, taste, discover, discuss, taste some more and purchase some of the finest wines in the world. Producer participation is by invite only.  A wonderful and relaxed country weekend experience is had by all during two week-ends in May each year.

A shuttle service will be running between towns to give you the best of both worlds.
